This book is a musical diorama of annotated tablature
arrangements, showing the evolution of American folk/pop
music from the mid-1800’s, through the Gay Nineties,
and including the first decade of the 20th century. Our
musical journey shows how both the color and tempo of
our music changed under the influence of ragtime and
blues, as the popularity of parlor music gave way to
music arranged for dancing and public performances in
vaudeville and concert halls.
This book is unique as a reference in providing a “state-of-the-art”
summary of information about 1-3-5 tuning systems. The
book interfaces closely with this website in providing
answers to questions and detailed Learning Aids.
The twenty arrangements include many American stage
favorites later immortalized in movies. The formatting
and binding are the same as for the previous books of
this series, providing ease of playing and resistance to
wear.
